Director
Abi Sanie (she/they)

Abi Sanie (she/they) is a 21 year old director, stage manager, educator, and theatre maker currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. As a fourth year Performance Creation student in the Department of Theatre at Concordia University, Abi’s performance work focuses on queerness, time, love, and dreams. Their directing and education practices are centered in theatre for social change and arts education advocacy. This year, Abi is proud to be serving as the Chair of the Concordia Association of Students in Theatre, Stage Manager of Grief directed by Jessica Carmichael, Stage Manager of Therapy Was a Mistake by Penina Simon at Mainline Theatre, Assistant Stage Manager of the Rocky Horror Show at Mainline Theatre, Student Intern at Infinitheatre, and working as a technician in various venues throughout Montreal. Special thanks to her beautiful partner Jack for his support and the magic he brings to every day! She cannot wait to continue building a community with this beautiful cast and crew, and to let the sun shine in on Montreal!
Assistant Director
Ian McCormack (he/they)

Ian McCormack (He/They) is an award-winning, neurodivergent multidisciplinary artist, playwright, and director, originally from the city of North Bay in Northern Ontario. Ian specializes in unconventional and activism theatre, creating art that breaks the stereotypical view of modern western theatre practices. Their art strives to provoke self-reflection and challenge a person to change their perspectives. As a disabled artist, he is an advocate for accessible arts practices and making theatre an inclusive space for all creators. Ian is also the artistic director of Portcullis Onstage, a fringe theatre group based in Northern Ontario. Ian is super excited to be working on HAIR.

Océanie Renaud (she/her)

Océanie Renaud is a twenty-year-old emerging artist, pursuing a BFA Degree with a Specialisation in Acting for the Theatre at Concordia University. Growing up in a very artistic family, she began dancing at the age of three, training mainly in ballet and contemporary. She earned many opportunities, including dancing as a company member of Éclat Dance Youth Company for multiple seasons, before transitioning to theatre in 2017. Her passion for performing arts and her ambition to further her theatre training ultimately led her to Montréal where she continues to develop her craft as a performing artist and creator. Océanie is passionate about telling provocative stories and creating safe spaces for everyone to confront and question the pertinent issues we face as a society, through performance.
Vocal Director
Maddison Schmitt (they/he)

Grateful to have grown up in Quw’utsun (Cowichan) unceded territory on what is currently known as Vancouver Island, Maddison now calls Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) home. As a 2-spirit Red River Métis citizen and interdisciplinary performing artist/theatre creator, they are honoured to have recently been asked to portray Louis Riel in Infinithéâtre’s touring production of Louis Riel: A Comic Strip Stage Play. Maddison completed a 3-year Diploma in Musical Theatre as well as a BPA in Interdisciplinary Collaborative Performance Production at Capilano University. They are currently completing a BFA in Performance Creation at Concordia University and as a mature student are blessed to be able to learn from their younger peers. Other credits include co-directing, performing in and vocal directing Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Presentation House) and Reefer Madness: the Musical! (Point B); Aaron in Legally Blonde (TUTS); Ensemble in Hello, Dolly!, Will Rogers’ Follies, Oklahoma! (RCMT); Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (bard@brentwood); Angerbird in Ashgirl (Exit 22).
Music Director
Kirk Elsmore (he/him)

Kirk is the co-founder and artistic director of Starcatcher Productions. His most recently production, Urinetown: the Musical, has merited 13 BroadwayWorld 2022 Montreal Awards nominations, including Best Musical, Best Direction, and Best Musical Direction. Full time, Kirk works as an elementary school music teacher.
Dramaturg
Alex O'Neill (he/him)

Eccentric, creative, and bold are how Alex describes himself. A lover of live music, record collecting and cycling, he currently works as a research assistant on an international puppet theatre production, as a Student Ambassador at McGill University, and in various positions across the Model UN circuit. He is currently in his first year of a political science major and a minor in English Literature at McGill. One can typically find him perusing the Plateau for a palatable poutine or under a tree reading poetry or post-modernism.

Kimberly (Kiki) Höneg (she/her)

Kiki is in her third year as an undergraduate student at McGill University combining Classics with Cinema and Theatre to explore mythic storytelling through visual and performance art. Always involved in all different aspects of theatre and film from a young age, she is interested in storytelling cross-culturally. She is thrilled for this year's production and to be involved in theatre at McGill. Most of all, she is grateful to be part of such a dedicated team!

Martha (Marty) Zimmerman (she/they)

Marty Zimmerman is a 21-year-old creator and promoter of performance based in Tiohti:áke/Montreal. They are in their first year of the Performance Creation specialization in Concordia’s Department of Theatre. Her practice focuses on creating and producing works of theatre that reflect society, bring awareness to important systemic issues, and question societal norms. This is her first year working with AUTS, and they are incredibly honored to be working with this beautiful, dedicated team of artists.

Madeline Blake (she/her)

Hi! I’m Madeline, a first year arts student at McGill. I’ve been involved in theatre for the past 5 years and I adore being both on and off stage. This is my 4th time stage managing a musical and I’m so honoured to be part of such an amazing company dedicated to producing this charmingly eccentric show :)

Lizzie Esses (she/they)

Lizzie is a first year Concordia Performance Creation student from Denver, Colorado. She has worked in the past as a director, stage manager, and performer with organizations from Denver Center for the Performing Arts to Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. She's recently moved to Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, and is excited to work with AUTS as an assistant stage manager this year!

Anna Brosowsky (she/her)

Anna Brosowsky is a first year at McGill University and is thrilled to be joining the AUTS team. Born and raised in Washington DC, Anna studied at the Studio Theater (performance) and the Shakespeare Theatre Company (criticism), and stage managed and made her directorial debut at the Round House Theater. She’s a paint-by-numbers aficionado, an aspiring baker, and the creator of the podcast “Spike Tape". She’s fired up to be back in the theater with Hair.

Jack is thrilled to work on this production and watch everyone's vision come together. Jack lives for theater creation and loved being a part of the AUTS team last year for Sweet Charity. When they aren’t in tech week, Jack works as a creative director and freelances as a photographer. Jack would like to congratulate his partner Abi on fostering such an amazing community and production, as well as thanking her for being the smile on his face and the butterflies in his stomach. Break a leg everyone!

Sadie Derry (she/her)

Sadie Derry is a first year Acting student at Concordia. In the past she has been involved in productions including The Scottish Play, Antigone, The Imaginary Invalid and Eurydice. She has filled a variety of roles including director, stage manager and actor. She also enjoys writing poetry and plays, and plans to pursue a career in theatre.

Naomi Levy (they/them)

Naomi is a fifth year acting student in the Concordia theatre program. Though the majority of their theatre work has been on stage, they are enjoying gaining new skills and experience on the technical side as well. They are so excited and honoured to be working as the light operator for this production, and hope to continue learning about and exploring the wonderful world of theatre tech!
